I lived in the Peruvian Amazon between 2012 and 2014, and I spent the majority of 2012 in a jungle hut during my shamanic apprenticeship. Most nights, swarms of fireflies would often surround the hut, illuminating their golden light trails against the darkened outlines of the forest behind them. I sat in complete awe and wonder observing them for hours for many nights on end. For me it was a very profound and truly wonderful experience. As human beings we don't live very long, in terms of cosmic time, and so I found it to be very metaphorical to think of each of us as a firefly at night, making our own distinct trails of brilliant yellow light in the darkness of night skies, for a brief moment in eternity.

I've always admired Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock's early work, in which they often employed only two colours to make very dramatic and striking paintings. i was thinking about some of these early works of theirs whilst creating this painting.

This is an acrylic painting on canvas supplied with fitted hanging gear and it will be packaged in a crate for transportation.
