They Come From The Light - Synchronicity

Synchronicity is a term that is frequently used to represent the process of experiences coming together and forming some sort of meaning. The concept of synchronicity was developed by psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Jung in the early 1900s. Jung himself believed in synchronicity, which he defined as “meaningful coincidences." He wrote extensively about the concept. This painting is a diptych, comprised of 2x panels, which were painted simultaneously. I really like the concept of 2x separate paintings working as 1x painting. For me this symbolises a human relationship where 2x separate entities unite and become 1x artwork. Yet both entities retain their individuality and contribute equally. By coming together as one, they 'synchronise' and create 'Synchronicity'. Both panels need each other. Simultaneously motion and calm in an abstract world of no actual definition. I've always been drawn to abstract symbolism and spiritual paintings. I drew inspiration the work of Alberto Giacometti, Odilon Redon, and Franz Kline whilst creating this artwork.

To achieve the motion effects in this painting, I used a wide variety of brushes, palette knives, and scrapers. I created the viscosity through applying large amounts of linseed oil into the oil paint. This is from a series that I have called “ They Come From the Light’ that I have made. Both paintings each measure 40 inches high (101cm) and 30 inches wide (76 cm) producing a combined measurement of 60 inches /152 cm wide and 40 inches/101 cm high.

This is an oil painting on canvas supplied with fitted hanging gear and it will be packaged in a crate for transportation.
