Lunar Colony 1

This is another of my minimalistic zen reduction paintings which i really enjoy creating. Its quite a challenge to create a meditation painting, to create an aura of tranquility whilst trying to observe and define the image whilst simultaneously allowing it to metamorphose through the eyes of the viewer into something new continually.

i have always liked looking at photographs of other planets surfaces and so the idea of a lunar colony appealed to me as a great motif for a minimal zen reduced environment. I love the silver surface of the moon and i tried to sequence the various elements in the painting as if it were a new colony, as though one were observing from above, as though it were a zen garden, where the positioning of minimalistic elements is absolute key to achieving harmony within.

Artistically i was influenced by some zen buddhist gardens that i have encountered in real life or observed from photographs in books as well as photographs from space exploration whilst creating this painting.

This is an acrylic painting on canvas supplied with fitted hanging gear and it will be packaged in a crate for transportation.
