I love the idea of worlds within worlds. That within the darkness there is light. A spark of hope , a warmth of love , just often beyond our reach through the darkness.
Joseph Campbell the father of mythology wrote ‘In the cave you fear to enter lies the treasure you seek," this symbolises our personal self confrontations that we have to undertake, our own personal Hero’s Journey.
I really loved making this painting as I was thinking of these themes and sort of went into a trance and then realised that after a while the painting had emerged from the darkness.
In The Realm Of Love No.1 is the first of a new series that I am working on this year.
