In A Silent Place

i have always liked to view paintings as meditations to sit in front of and become completely immersed in through the process of observation. One of my favourite pieces of music is Miles Davis's " in a silent way ' so i wanted to attempt to create a meditational landscape using paint. Alberto Giacometti, Lee Krasner and Franz Kline are all been big influences of my work so i was definitely referencing them in my creative thinking whilst making this painting.
Using a palette of only black and white paint and the resulting greys i was trying to create a landscape of chiaroscuro, somewhere other worldly yet a very peaceful stripped down zen like landscape.
To achieve the painterly effects in this painting, I used a wide variety of brushes, palette knives, and scrapers. I created the viscosity through applying large amounts of linseed oil into the oil paint.
This is an oil painting on canvas supplied with fitted hanging gear and it will be packaged in a crate for transportation.
