' Dusk 1 ' is a remembrance of all the beautiful sunsets over water that I have been privileged to witness. This a very painterly painting as it's using lots of different techniques to create an abstract impression of a sunset using oil paint, such gives it a magical richness of depth and colour.
I have always loved watching sunsets ever since I spent a month on Bali in 1987 when I was 18 and i love this motif.
Dusk for me really is the magic hour....
Every painting of a sunset is as different as every sunset, they can never be the same.
I have always loved the work of Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin and Mark Rothko amongst others so I suppose there are fusion elements of all those 3x amazing artists contained within.
